Here is a list of suggested supplies to start your crochet journey!
I have links to the items on Amazon, but of course, you are welcome to find these products elsewhere. Craft stores (such as Michael's) and many department stores (even Walmart!) have these supplies. I have used all of these linked products, so I feel comfortable recommending them, but again feel free to find something that works better for you!
None of these links are affiliate links, so I don't benefit from any sale based off these links.

Suggested "Kit" 1a

Weight 5 Bernat Maker Home Dec Yarn. This yarn is great because you can see the loops and stitches easily. This helps you identify where to insert your hook. Especially if you are using a stitch dictionary with drawings.
Price: $24.00 (depending on color, I suggest lighter colors so the stitches are easier to see)
AND

Size 8.00mm Clover Amour crochet hook. A yarn-hook match to the Bernat Maker Home Dec Yarn.
Price: $8.50
Suggested "Kit" 1b

Weight 4 The Woobles Easy Peasy Yarn. This yarn is great because you can see the loops and stitches easily. This helps you identify where to insert your hook. Especially if you are using a stitch dictionary with drawings. This yarn, alternatively to the previous kit, is a size 4 weight which is more common than the previous yarn. This will allow you to see more traditional size stitches.
Price: $10.00 (depending on color, I suggest lighter colors so the stitches are easier to see)
AND

Size 5.00mm Clover Amour crochet hook. A yarn-hook match to the The Woobles Easy Peasy Yarn.
Price: $6.00

Crochet Hook Sets

A set of 14 crochet hooks in various sizes. Also includes stitch markers, yarn needles, yarn scissors, and a storage pouch. This is a good option if you want a set of crochet hooks without a big investment. I started with a set that was similar to this.
Price: $13.00

Set of 12 Boye crochet hooks in various sizes. This brand is a higher quality ergonomic hook set. Perfect for it you want a longer-lasting set of hooks.
Price: $26.50

Set of 10 Clover Amour crochet hooks in various sizes. This brand is a higher quality ergonomic hook set. Perfect for it you want a longer-lasting set of hooks. This is also my personal favorite brand of crochet hooks.
Price: $70.00
Yarn/Darning Needles

A plastic Boye yarn needle. These needles are perfect for weaving in ends or sewing pieces together. These work for a period of time, but personally I find myself frustrated with how flimsy the needles are.
Price: $3.60

Pack of 8 darning needles. These needles are perfect for weaving in ends or sewing pieces together. They also tend to last longer than their plastic counterparts.
Price: $6.00
Stitch Markers
MAKE SURE YOU BUY STITCH MARKERS THAT CAN OPEN, not all stitch markers will work for crochet (aka some used for knitting)! You can also use safety pins that you might already have.

Pack of 50 stitch markers. These are perfect to have a reasonable amount of stitch markers.
Price: $4.50

Pack of 100 bulb safety pins. These are my favorite stitch markers to use because the clasp tends to be stronger than the plastic stitch markers. Con: you can stab yourself.
Price: $5.00
Crochet Dictionaries

Crochet Stitch Dictionary. This is the first crochet stitch dictionary I bought and I've gotten my use out of it.
Price: $22.00

The New Crochet Stitch Dictionary. Another great crochet stitch dictionary I own and use.
Price: $26.00
Safety Eyes
Despite their name, these eyes ARE NOT SAFE FOR CHILDREN to play with unsupervised as they are a choking hazard, even if they are "secured" within the stuffy.

Pack of 566 safety eyes in various sizes plus a few noses. Perfect for your amigurumi!
Price: $7.00

Safety Eye Jig. This is great for putting on the tricky safety eye backs!
Price: ~$10.00
Blocking
If you plan on making wearables or blankets, a blocking board may be helpful to even out tension and make project lie flat.

Pack of 9 interlocking foam tiles. This includes T-pins for actually pinning your project to the boards and a measuring tape to make sure you're blocking evenly.
Price: $37.00

Hand-held steamer. This steamer is perfect since you can use it horizontally instead of most that are meant to be used upright.
Price: $26.00
