There are many different types and styles of crochet hooks. They predominately vary by material and design.
Material-wise there are:
Aluminum
Steel
Wood
Bamboo
Resin
Plastic
There are also ergonomic hooks which usually have a rubber or silicone grip and either a plastic or metal hook section.
Each manufacturer has their own style, but an important characteristic is the hook shape. There are "tapered" and "inline" crochet hooks. Tapered hooks have an angled hook while inline hooks are completely straight.
Here is a diagram showing the differences in hook types.

The tapered style is also called "Boye" style and inline is also called "Bates" style both after the companies that popularized the styles.
In the end, you will have to try out different styles to decide what types of hook work best for you.
